This is our “get to know us” episode. We’re the 2 Boomer Broads; Dr. Sharone Rosen, D.C. and Rebecca Forstadt Olkowski. We want to give you some insight into what we’re all about.
We’re 2 Baby Boomer women in our 60’s.
We both have voice-over backgrounds. Sharone has the smooth radio “traffic” voice and Rebecca has the squeaky “8 year old voice.”
Sharone is a radio DJ, chiropractor, synagogue cantor, sings at the Gene Autry Museum with cowboys, and sells delicious chocolates.
When Sharone was asked what she doesn’t do, she responded,
“I don’t ride a bike.”
Rebecca has been a professional voice actor for over 35 years. She’s been called the Queen of Anime, having done hundreds of voices in that genre, and also has an extensive resume voicing commercials, feature films, and video games. Rebecca is a blogger, and has a business that helps busy entrepreneurs set up WordPress websites. She’s the founder of BabyBoomster.com, a blog for Baby Boomer foodies who want to live long without being deprived.
Sharone was the voice of a parrot on LA Law. We actually both appeared as bit parts on that show, although we didn’t know each other at the time.
Rebecca has starred in a couple of “bad” movies. Mugsy’s Girls (AKA Delta Pie) with Ruth Gordon, in which they both mud wrestled, and Round Numbers with Kate Mulgrew.
After introducing ourselves, we talk about dating younger men, feeling young, feeling old, what we may have done in the 70’s that still remains in the 70’s, how we both managed to avoid taking drugs, how our parents were wild and crazy, experiences as “theatre majors,” getting drunk on bad wine and daiquiris , modern dance, high school P.E., what we didn’t learn in school, reinvention as entrepreneurs, working “real” jobs, bad diets, and scary looking facelifts.
We also segues into “sugar,” and why it’s funking up everyone’s metabolisms, along with better ways to eat. In other words, we all need to go back to being hippies and live on a commune farm. Unfortunately, Sharone says that plants grow in spite of her, rather than because of her.
In upcoming episodes we’ll be talking about Baby Boomer issues, making our lives better, staying healthy, safe exercise, and much more.
Tips and Observations From the 2 Boomer Broads:
Stay away from Stilettos. or plan to see Sharone to adjust your back.
What is it with the big lips? (talking about face lifts)
